For the Beauty of the Earth
(VU 226)

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.

God of all, to you we raise
This, our hymn of grateful praise.

Call to Worship

Come, people of God, gather with grateful hearts.
We bring thanks for the harvest of the earth, for food
that nourishes and hands that prepare.

Come, people of God, gather with open spirits.
We bring thanks for the beauty of creation, for rivers
and forests, fields, and skies.

Come, people of God, gather with generous hope.
We bring thanks for the gift of community,
for neighbours near and far,
for love that binds us together.

Each Blade of Grass
(MV 37)

Each blade of grass, ev'ry wing that soars,
The waves that sweep across a distant shore,
Make full the circle of God.
Each laughing child, every gentle eye,
A forest lit beneath a moon-bright sky,
Make full the circle of God.

Each silent paw, every rounded stone,
The buzz that echoes from a honey'd comb,
Make full the circle of God.
Each fire-brimmed star,
Every out-stretched hand,
The wind that leaps and sails across the land,
Make full the circle of God.

Each icy peak, every patterned shell,
The joyous chorus that the dawn foretells,
Make full the circle of God.
Each cosmic hue, every creature's way,
All form the beauty of this vast array,
Making full the circle of God.

Prayer of Confession

Generous God,
we confess that we do not always live with grateful hearts.
We forget your daily gifts,
we take more than we need,
we ignore the cry of the earth and the hungry in our midst.
Forgive us, O God.
Plant within us a spirit of humility and compassion,
so that we may walk gently with creation,
share generously with neighbours,
and live faithfully as your people.

Words of Assurance

For the Fruit of All Creation
(VU 227)

For the fruit of all creation,
Thanks be to God;
For the gifts of every nation,
Thanks be to God.
For the ploughing, sowing, reaping,
Silent growth while we are sleeping,
Future needs in earth's safe-keeping,
Thanks be to God.

In the just reward of labour,
God's will is done;
In the help we give our neighbour,
God's will is done;
In our world-wide task of caring
For the hungry and despairing,
In the harvests we are sharing,
God's will is done.

For the harvests of the Spirit,
Thanks be to God;
For the good we all inherit,
Thanks be to God;
For the wonders that astound us,
For the truths that still confound us,
Most of all that love has found us,
Thanks be to God.

- The Anthem -

We Thank You Lord

For all the gifts that fill our days,
For caring friends, for love's enbrace,
For all the ways,
We thank you Lord.
For all the joy that we have known,
For simple things, for loving homes,
For all the ways Your love is shown,
We thank you Lord,
We thank you Lord...

(David Angerman/Joseph M. Martin)

Praise the Lord with the Sound of Trumpet
(VU 245)

Praise the Lord with the sound of trumpet,
Praise the Lord with the harp and lute,
Praise the Lord
With the gentle sounding flute.

Praise the Lord in the field and forest,
Praise the Lord in the city square,
Praise the Lord anytime and anywhere.

Praise the Lord in the wind and sunshine,
Praise the Lord in the dark of night,
p Praise the Lord in the rain or snow
Or in the morning light.

Praise the Lord in the deepest valley,
Praise the Lord on the highest hill,
Praise the Lord,
Never let your voice be still.

Praise the Lord with the crashing cymbal,
Praise the Lord with the pipe and string,
Praise the Lord
With the joyful songs you sing.

Praise the Lord on a weekday morning,

By the light of sun or moon.

Nothing let your praise destroy.
