Fourth Sunday of Advent

- Introit -

Hark, The Glad Sound
(VU 29)

Hark, the glad Sound!
The Saviour comes!
The Saviour promis'd long!
Let ev'ry Heart prepare a Throne,
And every Voice a Song.

Lighting of The Fourth Candle of Love

O God, source of Eternal love. You are the beginning
of all Joy, the accomplisher of all Peace, and the source of all Hope.
On this Christmas Sunday may we be aware that you have come to us, and to continue to come to us daily.
Break all of our assumptions that we may find the Wonder and the Awe of your love in every breath we take.
We pray in the name of Immanuel - God with us - Love eternal. Amen.

A Candle is Burning
(VU 6, verse 4)

A candle is burning, a candle of love,
A candle to point us to heaven above.
A baby for Christmas, a wonderful birth,
For Jesus is bringing
God's love to our earth.

O Come, All Ye Faithful
(VU 60)

Joyful and triumphant!
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him
Born the King of Angels:

R: O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

God of God,
Light of Light,
Lo, he abhors not the Virgin's womb;
Very God,
Begotten, not created: R.

Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above!
Glory to God
In the highest: R.

See how the shepherds
Summoned to his cradel,
Leaving their flocks,
Draw nigh with lowly fear;
We too will thither
Bend our joyful steps; R.

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,
Born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given!
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing: R.

Angels from the Realms of Glory
(VU 36)

Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o'er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation's story
Now proclaim Messiah's birth.

R: Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King.

Shepherds, in the field abiding,
Watching o'er your flocks by night,
God with us is now residing;
Yonder shines the infant light. R.

Sages, leave your contemplations,
Brighter visions beam afar;
Seek the great Desire of nations;
Ye have seen His natal star. R.

Saints, before the altar bending,
Watching long in hope and fear;
Suddenly the Lord, descending,
In His temple shall appear. R.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
(VU 48)

Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King,
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With the angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ the everlasting Lord,
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail, the incarnate deity,
Pleased with us in flesh to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel!
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Hail, the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail, the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings.
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that we no more may die,
Born to raise us from the earth,
Born to give us second birth.
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"
