Ameni "ameni" is a South African version of "amen" in the language of the Xhosa people - the 2nd largest ethnic group of South Africa.

Inviting the Light We kindle the light and pray. May God bless the poor in spirit. God bless all who mourn. May God bless the meek. God bless all who hunger and thirst for righteousness. God bless the merciful. God bless the pure in heart. God bless all who ae peacemakers. God bless all who are persecuted for righteousness' sake. As we light this candle, we remember that we are called to be the light of the world, reflecting the true light of Christ in our lives. Amen.

Come and Find the Quiet Centre (VU 374) Come and find the quiet centre In the crowded life we lead, Find the room for hope to enter, Find the frame where we are freed: Clear the chaos and the clutter, Clear our eyes, that we can see All the things that really matter, Be at peace, and simply be.

Silence is a friend who claims us, Cools the heat and slows the pace, God it is who speaks and names us, Knows our being, face to face, Making space within our thinking, lifting shades to show the sun, Raising courage when we're shrinking, finding scope for faith begun.

In the spirit let us travel, open to each other's pain, Let our loves and fears unravel, celebrate the space we gain: There's a place for deepest dreaming, there's a time for heart to care, In the Spirit's lively scheming There is always room to spare!

Call to Worship Awesome God, you turn things upside down, calling the wise to embrace your ways. Open us to the vision of your reign on earth and strengthen us to do our part in blessing as you bless. Amen Amen

Opening Prayer We are blessed when we hunger for justice and thirst for reconciliation. Our souls are nourished by God's hope and grace. We are blessed when we grieve the brokenness in our world, choosing to be with those who are weak and powerless. We are blessed when we become God's agents, willing to do what is right and good, not what is easy. Come, let us worship together today and blessed.

Prayers for Grace and Transformation Loving God, you enable us to make changes that matter. With your love, you transform our sadness into joy, our defeat into hope. With your love, you transform our apathy into commitment, our selfishness into thanksgiving. With your love, you transform our indifference into praise, our shyness into laughter. Transforming God, we are restored by your presence to be the faithful ones we are called to be.
