The Seder is the name of the meal taken by Jews the first evening of Passover. Thus Jesus' last supper
(Passover meal) was a Seder, which is celebrated by Christians on Maundy Thursday in memory of that
event. Summerlea's 2007 Seder was led by Brian Maklan and his wife Leslie McEwen
and son Peter. The ceremony preceding the supper included lighting the candles, discussion of the Seder
symbols, symbolic washing of hands, and the retelling of the Passover story. The supper consisted of lots of delicious pot-luck provided by the participants, plus soup, sandwiches and dessert provided by the worship committee and friends, and consumption of the prerequisite cups of "wine". Following the supper the assemblage moved to the sanctuary to divest the chancel of all ornamentation, in memory of the Cross, to be re-installed Easter Sunday in memory of the Resurrection. Following are a few group photos of the participants. The photos are pickable to see a larger version. To return here, pick Back on your browser. |
