Good Friday Walk April 2, 2010

Good Friday 2010 was the warmest April 2 on record, so the walk from Summerlea along the lakeshore walking path to Resurrection of Our Lord church was somewhat idyllic. On arrival at Resurrection church the walkers met the group who started at St. Stephen's church in eastern Lachine, and a brief service was held, followed by Hot Cross buns and water in the hall.

Strolling along 50th Avenue and the lakeshore in the sunshine. Still cool, but it got warm later.

The western group and the eastern group arrived at the same time. Talk about planning! (The eastern leader was carrying a cross, not a Dairy Queen sign!)

Some folks joined at the church.

Some took a little longer, but arrive they did.

At the church, a meaningful service was led by Father Jack Kennedy, Patricia Marshall, Rev. Heather MacDougall, Father Jeff Hall, Rev. Jeff Barlow and Rev. Shirley Smith. John Osborne of Summerlea led the singing on flute, from behind the congregation - very effective!

Following the service, hot cross buns and water were served in the church hall.
