Reverend Scott Patton, B.A., B.Th., M.Div., M.R.E.
Rev. Scott Patton joined Summerlea September 1, 2010 from Presteign-Woodbine United Church, Toronto, where he had been the minister since September 1, 1996.
(Exerpts from the Joint Search Committee (JSC) presentation at the congregational meeting on February 28, 2010, at which the congregation approved the call to have Scott become Summerlea's minister effective September 1st, 2010.)
Rev. Patton was born in Sherbrooke QC and describes himself as a proud Eastern Townshipper, with family still in the Sherbrooke area. He graduated from United Theological College in Montreal in 1989, and completed a Master's of Religious Education at Emmanuel College in Toronto two years later. This year (2010) marks 20 years since his ordination. Scott has served three United Church congregations in the Toronto area since 1991. He was the minister of Presteign-Woodbine United in the southeast area of Toronto for 14 years.
In addition to his strong academic background and 20 years in ministry, Rev. Patton has extensive experience in Presbytery work. He has served as chairperson, executive member and Pastoral Relations committee member in Toronto area presbyteries.
Rev. Patton speaks about a God of love as opposed to a God of judgment, and about the joy of faith in a world that cries out for love. He encourages us to put out the welcome mat and let people know that we are about non-judgment. He is interested in our outreach projects, and is pleased to be part of an affirming congregation. He is interested in pastoral care as well as preaching.
Scott has served as a volunteer and board member of a community housing complex for many years. His leisure activities include bicycling and hiking and being outdoors. He enjoys collector automobiles, antique glass and gardening, and has a passion for baroque music. He has participated in dinner theatre productions at his former church.
Music DirectorConnie Osborne
Connie has been Summerlea's music director since 1999. She is a registered nurse with a love and talent for music.
Her pleasant and enthusiastic way with folk, together with her skill in music, have endeared her to the Summerlea choir and congregation.
Her husband John is a CEGEP math teacher and flautist who occasionally joins his musical talents to those of Connie and the choir.
They have two sons, Joshua & Jacob.

Susan has been Summerlea's cheerful secretary since 1995. In this role she performs administrative & secretarial duties, answers the telephone and handles daily inquiries; her duties also include keeping the membership records up to date, the weekly order of service and its insert, the quarterly newsletter along with other day-to-day tasks.
Susan is married to Rick and they have two sons. In addition to her work at home and at Summerlea Susan finds time to power walk, study art and piano and to travel with the family.

George has taken charge of the church property since 1987. We all know and appreciate his cheerful willingness to take on whatever job comes along in addition to his regular custodial duties. We also enjoy his participation in congregational life including Sunday School.
George is married to Barbara and they have two daughters, Nicole and Maria.
