Mary introduces

And Dr. Alwin Spense responds.

The Land Acknowledgement

Jesus calls us into the world
to love one another as we are loved by God.
As we came to this land,
First Nations People welcomed us,
sustained us and taught us.
We did not understand them
when they shared their vision.
In our zeal to tell the Good News
of Jesus Christ,
we were closed to the value of
their Spirituality.

All the Way My Savior Leads Me
(VU 635)

All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
Heavenly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, whate'er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father's house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.

We are clay in the Potter's hands,
Worked on the wheel of life,
Molded and shaped by God's touch,
Sometimes gently turned,
Sometimes forcefully moved,
Always being changed by God's love.
We offer ourselves to God Most Holy this day.
We offer our lives, our fears, and our loves,
Trusting that God will mold us as God wills.
We come to worship God the Potter.

There's a Wideness in God's Mercy
(VU 271)

There's a wideness in God's mercy,
Like the wideness of the sea;
There's a kindness in his justice
Which is more than liberty.

There is no place where earth's sorrows
Are more keenly felt than heaven:
There is no place where earth's failings
Have such gracious judgment given.

There is plentiful redemption
In the blood that Christ has shed;
There is joy for all the members
In the sorrows of the head.

Troubled souls, why will you scatter
Like a crowd of frightend sheep?
Foolish hearts, why will you wander
From a love so true and deep?

For the love of God is broader
Than the measures of the mind,
And the heart of the Eternal
Is most wonderfully kind.

Prayer of Confession

Great Creator, we come to you as a people who believe
we know you, and yet we struggle to
recognize you in our daily interactions.
We find it easier to fall back
into the smallness of our lives,
to let pettiness dictate our reactions and to allow
cynicism to invade our thoughts.
How do we find you Lord, when the noise of the world drowns
out your call? Teach us to seek you through
the clamour of the world.
We long for the connection
with you, with your love and with your precepts.
Have mercy on us as we struggle to keep you nearby.
Amen.

And Words of Assurance

The Lord's My Shepherd
(VU 747)

The Lord's my shepherd, I'll not want.
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; he leadeth me
The quiet waters by.

My soul he doth restore again,
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
Even for his own name's sake.

Yea, though I walk in death's dark vale,
Yet will I fear none ill,
For thou art with me and thy rod
And staff me comfort still.

My table thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes.
My head thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me,
And in God's house forevermore
My dwelling place shall be.

Sunday Reflection

Dr. Alwin Spence

- The Anthem -

Lord, I stretch my hands to you;
No other help I know.
If you should leave me all alone,
Where, then, shall I go? Oh Lord
I give my soul to you.
I seek your care and love...

- Offertory -

We Give You But Our Own
(VU 542)

We give thee but thine own,
Whate'er the gift may be,
For all we have is thine alone,
A trust, O Lord, from thee.

Amazing Grace
(VU 266, verses 1, 2, 5)

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.
