Let There Be Light
(VU 679 verses 1,2,3,5)

Let there be light,
let there be understanding,
let all the nations gather,
let them be face to face.

Open our lips,
Open our minds to ponder,
Open the door of concord
Opening into grace.

Perish the sword,
Perish the angry judgment,
Perish the bombs and hunger,
Perish the fight for gain.

Hallow our love,
Hallow the death of martyrs,
Hallow their holy freedom,
Hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,
Your spirit turn to language,
Your people speak together,
Your spirit never fade.

Apologies for poor quality photos.
Trouble with my camera.

Call to Worship

As we gather together in this time of worship, let
us open our eyes and hearts to see God in our midst.
Let us open our ears to hear
the words God speaks to us.

Let us open our minds to receive God's truth.
Let us open our hearts to receive God's love, as
we respond to the call to live in God's ways.

O Worship the King
(VU 235)

O worship the King,
All-glorious above,
O, gratefully sing
God's power and God's love;
Our Shield and Defender,
The Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendour,
And girded with praise.

O tell of God's might,
O, sing of God's grace,
Whose robe is the light,
Whose canopy space;
God's chariots of wrath
The deep thunderclouds form,
And broad is God's path
On the wings of the storm.

The earth with it's store
Of wonders untold,
It breathes in the air,
It shines in the light;
It streams from the hills,
It descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills
In the dew and the rain.

Your bountiful care,
What tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air,
It shines in the light;
It streams from the hills,
It descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills
In the dew and the rain.

Frail children of dust,
And feeble as frail,
In Thee do we trust,
Nor find Thee to fail;
Your mercies how tender,
How firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender,
Redeemer, and Friend!

Prayer of Confession

God of limitless grace and loving forgiveness,
as we are compelled by a vision of the world
where all things are put right;
a world where all people love and care for one another;
and no one is in need.
But even as we long for this vision to be fulfilled,
we confess that our lives and actions have not always been
a reflection of this hope we have.
We look for Christ's coming in a blaze of glory,
but we are not always aware that Christ continually comes
to us in acts of love and humble service.
Forgive us for the times when we have lost sight of what
it means to truly be a follower of Christ.
Help us to remember, O God,
that your loving grace has the power to heal
us and set us back on the path of faithfulness
as we remember the concerns and prayers
that have been lifted up over the past week
by members of our congregation and our community.
Let us now spend a moment in silent prayer.....

Words of Assurance

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty
(VU 220)

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,
Who rules all creation;
O my soul, praise him,
At all times your health and salvation.
Come, all who hear:
Brothers and sisters draw near,
Joining in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord,
Above all things so mightily reigning,
Keeping us safe at his side,
and so gently sustaining.
Have you not seen
How all you needed has been
Met by God's gracious ordaining?

Praise to the Lord
Who will prosper our work and defend us;
Surely his goodness and mercy
Will daily attend us:
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
Who out of love will befriend us.

Praise to the Lord!
O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath
Come now with praises before him!
Let the Amen sound
From God's people again:
Gladly with praise we adore him.

Lord, Speak to Me
(VU 589)

Lord, speak to me, that I may speak
in living echoes of your tone;
as thou has sought, so let me seek
Your straying children lost and lone.

O lead me so that I may lead
The wandering and the wavering feet;
O feed me, so that I may feed
Your hungering ones with manna sweet.

O teach me, Lord, so I may teach
the precious truths which you impart;
and wing my words, that they may reach
the hidden depths of many a heart.

O fill me with your fullness, Lord,
until my very heart o'erflows
in kindling thought and glowing word,
Your love to tell, your praise to show.

I Need Thee Every Hour
(VU 671, Arr. Hojun Lee)

I need thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like thine
Can peace afford.

I need thee, oh, I need thee;
Every hour I need thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to thee....

Offertory

Grant us, God the grace of giving,
With a spirit large and free,
With ourselves and all our living
We many offer faithfully.

Guide Me, O Thou great Jehovah
(VU 651)

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty,
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield;
Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death and hell's Destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan's side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to Thee;
I will ever give to Thee.
