Come Touch Our Hearts

Come touch our hearts
That we may know compassion,
From failing embers build a blazing fire;
Love strong enough to overturn injustice,
To seek a world more gracious,
come touch and bless our hearts.

Come touch our souls
That we may know and love you,
Your quiet presence all our fears dispel;
Create a space for spirit to grow in us,
Let life and beauty fill us,
Come touch and bless our souls.

Come touch us now,
This people who are gathered,
To break the bread and share the cup of peace;
That we may love you with our heart, our soul,
Our mind, our strength, our all,
Come touch us with your grace.

Without darkness there cannot be light.
We light this candle in recognition that Jesus
is the light of the world
and those who follow him
will walk
in the light of life.

Come before Creator God of steadfast love.
We come as people, called by grace.
Come with testimony and
with song.
We come as people called,
by faith.
Come into the joy of worship together.
We come as people, called by love.

All the way my Savior leads me
(VU 635)

All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father's house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages:
Jesus led me all the way.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living Bread.
Though my weary steps may falter
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! A spring of joy I see.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Oh, the fullness of His love!
Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father's house above.
When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
Jesus led me all the way.

Opening Prayer

We are not possible without you, God.
We are the products of those who came before.
We influence those who come after.
You bind the generations to one another.
We offer the treasures we find in you
to one another, passing them down through the ages.
Hear us as we gather for worship here today.
Amen.

Jesus Calls Us
(VU 562)

Jesus calls us; o'er the tumult
Of our life's wild restless sea,
Day by day his clear voice sounding,
Saying, "Christian, follow me."

Long ago apostles heard it
By the Galilean lake,
Turned from home and toil and kindred,
Leaving all for Jesus' sake.

Jesus calls us from the worship
Of the vain world's golden store,
From each idol that would keep us,
Sying, "Christian, love me more."

In our joys and in our sorrows,
Days of toil and hours of ease,
Still he calls, in cares and pleasures,
"Christian, love me more than these."
Jesus calls us: by your mercies,
Saviour, may we hear your call,
Give our hearts to your obedience,
Serve and love you best of all.

In Gratitude and Humble Trust(VU 544)

In gratitude and humble trust
we bring our best today
to serve your cause and share your love
with all along life's way.
O God, who gave yourself to us
in Jesus Christ, your Son,
teach us to give ourselves each day
until life's work is done.

Amazing Grace
(VU 266)

Amazing Grace!
How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught
My heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers,
Toils and snares
I have already come,
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me
This word my hope secures;
God will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.
