Thursday evening, December 9, 2004 featured Summerlea's annual candlelight service of
Christmas carols and readings, enjoyed by the Summerlea / St. Andrew's congregation and
visitors from the surrounding community. Arrivals were greeted by Ruth & Euan Crabbe
and Marg & Bill Lynn. The choir under the direction of Summerlea music director Connie Osborne included members of the St. Andrew's and Summerlea choirs plus some of their musical friends, with accompaniment by John Osborne on flute for the French traditional carol "Bring a Torch". The candles in the Advent Wreath were lighted by members of the Rodd, McKenzie, Roy & Smart / Cassidy families. Other participants included: Chris Maragoudakis: Opening Scripture Sentence Marion Golden: Welcome and Call to Worship Barbara Davidson: Prayer of Approach Dail Krujelskis: A Christmas Prayer of Confession Darryl Macdonald: Soloist in Past Three O'clock and Guest Speaker Michelle McKenzie, Kim & Alayna Roy, Keith McKenzie: Scripture Readings Howard Clark: Introduction of Guest Speaker Donna Corbin: Offering Dedication Michael Biscott: A Christmas Prayer Trish Higgins: Lighting of the Candles Ruth Heim: Benediction and overall organization. In his sermon, "In Your Dreams", Darryl carried us from the dreams we have at night to the dream of a better world for all. The service was followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments in Acadia Hall. Thanks to Ruth Heim for organizing this event and to the Serendipity ladies and friends for arranging and providing the fellowship setting and refreshments.
