The "Oh Jonah" musical presented at the Sunday morning worship service April 23, 2006 was repeated for the congregation and the Lachine community Saturday evening April 29.

Following are photos from the second presentation. Many are similar to those taken at the final rehearsal April 22 for the April 23 presentation, but there are also a number of new views.

Rev. Howard Clark and music director Connie Osborne
welcomed the audience. Howard said an opening prayer.

Keith and Leslie Field played "O'Carolan's Welcome",
a traditional Irish ballad arranged by K. Ashbrook.

John and Connie Osborne played Tchaikovsky's "June", from The Seasons
We were not in a position to catch Connie at the piano.

Darryl Macdonald and Leslie Field sang / played some down-east duets.

Then John Osborne sang "Song" by G. Kahn and W. Donaldson.
This turned out to be "Makin' Whoopee", and the audience joined in on the chorus.
The photographer was too absorbed in the song to catch a photo.

The opening song and responses to Marion Golden
getting the crew to figure out what the story is all about,
with Alayna Roy reminding all not to forget responsibility.

The sleeping Jonah (Aaron Miechkota) hears angels telling him God wants him
to go to preach to the Ninevites.The angels have some trouble to awaken him.

Jonah is not keen to preach to the wicked Ninevites and packs his bag
(with items such as whale repellant and giant Tic-Tacs) to head for Joppa,
to catch a ship headed for Spain.

While on the ship the angels warn of a mighty storm approaching,
which soon threatens to drown them all. Jonah realizes that the storm is his fault,
and asks the sailors to throw him overboard.
The sailors are reluctant, but ultimately agree and over goes Jonah.
The sailors are sad - Jonah is no longer aboard. But the storm abates and they are saved.

As Jonah swims he encounters a huge whale which swallows him up.

Jonah is sad and lonely, but soon some angels come along
and suggest that Jonah teach the whale to sing,
as a way to escape.

After some false starts, the whale learns to sing Hallelujah and,
with its mouth open, out pops Jonah.

The angels accompany him to Nineveh,
where he is appalled at the wicked ways of the Ninevite queen,

as she watched her subjects dance their swingin' way up the aisles.

But quickly Jonah's teaching convinces the queen of the error of their ways,
and the Ninevites cast off their naughty habits,
singing "O Lord Have Mercy".

The play completed, Connie thanked the audience for their responsive attention.

And Keith McKenzie showed off his angelic nature
before heading off to the cast party.
