Au Revoir to Jeff Barlow, 15 April 2007
Posted 16 April, 2007

April 15, 2007 marked Jeff Barlow's last day at Summerlea, having spent nearly a year with us as a student last summer and again throughout the final fall & winter term of his studies at the United Theological College. He expects to be placed in the Montreal & Ottawa Conference, but he does not yet know where. He will be ordained in late May.

For his final sermon with us, Jeff suggested very convincingly that being a doubting Thomas is not such a bad thing, especially when the end result is complete conviction that that which was doubted is true.

The service included a commissioning event in which chairman David Pryce and the members of the lay committee participated as Jeff was commissioned to this new phase of his life.

The coffee hour following the service included cake, and Jeff was presented with a parting gift from the congregation. We wish him well.

The table set up by Barb Moffat, with two cakes!

Barb made the presentation to Jeff.
Watching are: Jeanne Moore, Lewis & Mary Guynan, Bernard Tremblay, Joan McCauley.

Jeff did the ceremonial cake cutting, with guidance from Barb. Then he smiled for the camera.
(As a former restaurant chef, he did not need much guidance!)

Jeff stood by as Mary Guynan, Barb Moffat and Joan McCauley finished cutting the cake.
Some of the younger folk seemed anxious that it be done properly (or something like that).
