Picnic Worship 2008

Posted 8 June 2008
This year it was back to sunny, hot weather for Summerlea's annual worship / picnic at Dorval Island.

Our thanks to Carolyn Osborne and Undeg Edwards for arranging the milieu and ferry tickets, to Susan McKenzie for organizing games (and ice cream), to Howard for preparing a real outdoor type service, and to all those who attended to make the picnic a very enjoyable event.

Following are a few shots of folks at the picnic.

Folks shot the breeze before the service.

Listening to readings by members of the congregation during the service,
which highlighted the environment and world food shortages.

Following the service we ate our lunches
and some folks played volleyball while others digested.

The Roys' new dog Soda and the Rodds' dog Trixie (on Linda's lap)
joined in the proceedings.

Susan McKenzie then organized some games for the young and young-at-heart.

The "egg"-on-a-spoon race attracted lots of participants, some of whom
made it to the finish line without losing the egg.

Connie and George snapped photos while John looked on.
Kevin took photos and assisted Susan in supervising,
while Roy looked on and Justin prepared for the re-run.

Connie and John challenged the younger folks in the three-legged race,
but Maria and Nicole Provias led the pack while others crashed.

The final event was a sack race, followed by ice cream served by Susan.

And once again the Summerlea picnic worship was a fun day for all.
