Once again Summerlea's stalwart pie-makers gathered on October 16, 2008 to make apple pies, using pastry
made July 4th (see Pastry Making 2008) A new implement to assist with the rolling was on order but not yet received, so pastry rolling took place the old fashioned way, while others peeled by machine, finished the machine products and cut the apples into slices, mixed flavouring, filled pie shells, crimped, boxed, etc., etc., until all the apples had been put into pie shells, boxed and into the freezers by about 8:30 PM.
