The choir sang the introit,
then joined the congregation,
so they did not wear their gowns.

Susan McKenzie made the introductions,
then Cassandra McKenzie started the narration,
while Michael Mouse slept.
(and some of the actors looked on from "back stage".)

Michael was awakened by some singing,
something about a baby in a manger.
What was going on?

Along came an owl who told him he would need a gift to go to see the baby.
But I have nothing to give, bewailed Michael.

Then along came a sheep with some wool,
a cow with some milk,
a couple of hens ready to offer eggs,
and a cat, ready to rid the barn of furry creatures.
Michael avoided the cat, but still had no gift to give.

Then Michael spied a hole in the stable wall, and went to peak through to see
Mary and Joseph and the baby, and the gifts of wool, milk and eggs.
He kept watch all night.

The next day he encountered the owl, who asked what gift he had given.
"Myself", said Michael, "for as long as he needed me."

Cassandra closed the story,
the players lined up for applause,
and Howard gave thanks on behalf of the congregation.
