Thursday evening, 16 April 2009, the Summerlea Spring Concert featured soprano
Sandra d'Angelo, in an evening of glorious song. Sandra's voice is a joy to hear,
from gentle whisper to shake the rafters - and she is beautiful to boot. She deleted
a couple of songs because of a cold, not evident in her singing, but it could be
heard in her voice at coffee following the concert. She was accompanied by her coach, Pierre McLean, who is currently on staff at the Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, coach / accompanist at the faculté de musique de l'Université de Montréal and coach for the McGill Schulich School of Music voice department. Sandra appeared on stage for the first time last year in Toronto, as Rose in Lamké. In recital she has explored a wide variety of repertoire from baroque to 20th century music in six languages. She is currently finishing her bachelor's degree in Performance at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, with Professor Michael Miraw, and will be giving her final concert at Pollack Hall next week. A few photos were taken during her concert, but the subdued lighting and bright background do not do justice to her beauty and flair. |
