Thursday evening, December 9, 2010 featured Summerlea's annual candlelight service of
Christmas carols and readings, enjoyed by the Summerlea congregation and
visitors from the surrounding community. Concerns about parking after the
first snow storm of the year may have led to a somewhat smaller than usual
attendance. The Summerlea choir under the direction of Summerlea music director Connie Osborne included some musical friends plus John Osborne on flute. Soloists were Barb Moffat in There is No Rose (15th c. trad arr. C. Osborne) and Mel Cockhill in As Lately We Watched (Austrian folk song, arr. Charles Black). Greeters were Valerie & John Coffin and Ruth & Euan Crabb. Other participants included: Mel Cockhill: Opening Scripture Sentence Jacob Osborne: Welcome and Greetings Ruth Heim: Call to Worship Nancy Mark: Prayer of Approach Kim Roy:Prayer of Confession MIchelle McKenzie: Old Testament Lesson Roy, Linda, Elizabeth & Caroline Rodd: New Testament Lesson Marg Lynn: Introduction of Guest Speaker Rev. Scott Patton: Guest Speaker John & Connie Osborne: Offertory Music Barbara Davidson: Offering Dedication Alayna Roy: A Christmas Prayer Ruth Heim: The Lord's Prayer Rev.
