Farewell Rolanda 15 April 2012
Posted 17 April 2012
Sunday, 15 April 2012, marked the last day of Rolanda Taylor's internship at Summerlea, which began last September. She will now go on to prepare for her ordination in May, followed by travel to Saskatchewan to take on her first charge as an ordained minister.
The Sunday service included a "Decovenanting and Commissioning" ceremony in which Rolanda's association with Summerlea is officially terminated.
Following the service, refreshments were offered in Acadia Hall, along with some items for Rolanda to remember Summerlea by.

Rev. Scott led the Decovenanting and commissioning celebration with Rolanda.
Lay Committee members Peter, David, Barb, Kim and John witnessed.

Rev. Scott invited Rolanda to say a few words,
a task she undertook with relish.

In Acadia Hall after the service, a cake with miniature mortar board
and balloons and a Good luck sign celebrated the occasion.
A wee lectern fashioned by Marion Golden was beside the cake.

Rev. Scott presented Rolanda with a Communion set
while Rolanda's mother Victoria looked on.

Additional presentations included the wee lectern by Marion,
a Summerlea T-shirt and map of Canada from the Lay Committee,
a set of earrings from the UCW (the photog missed that one),
and a card from Raphael and Philip, presented by Raphael.

Cake cutters Undeg and Marion had help from Raphael, while
the hungry horde awaited the scrumptious chocolate cake.

Our thanks to Rolanda for her joyful involvement in Summerlea life during her stay with us,
and best wishes for a fulfilling life in the ministry of the United Church,
(and excellent training in Saskatchewan farming).
